Hey everyone! If you read my Monthly TBR: May 2019, you will already know that I was extremely ambitious for this month’s TBR, but I’ve actually done a lot better than I expected! In total, I finished 9 books, and started my 10th!
BOOKS 1, 2, 3 & 4: The Green Mile by Stephen King
This was a continuation of a readalong that I took part in through Instagram, which started in April. I read parts 3, 4, 5, and 6, which finished off the series. The Green Mile follows the story of prison guard Paul Edgcombe, and his time on Cold Mountain Penitentiary’s E Block. Home of convicted killers, awaiting their turn to walk the dreaded Green Mile, to take a seat in ‘Old Sparky’, Cold Mountain’s electric chair. And, the story of how one inmate, John Coffey, will change his life. As a whole, I give The Green Mile a 4 star rating. BOOK 5: Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
I started this in April, but didn’t get very far into it. I don’t think I really need to give an overview of this one, because most people will know the story anyway. Honestly, I didn’t enjoy this at all…. I give it a a 1 star rating (sorry to all you Alice in Wonderland fans, it just wasn’t for me!) BOOK 6: Twisted by Steve Cavanagh
Twisted is the type of book that it’s better to know nothing about when you start it, so I’m not going to give anything away here. This was definitely my favourite book of the month, and Steve Cavanagh is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors! I give it a 5 star rating. BOOK 7: Living With Vincent Van Gogh by Martin Bailey
Living With Vincent Van Gogh tells the story of Van Gogh’s life, through the places he lived and worked. It looks at the impact these places, and the people he met there had on his life, and his artwork. For any art, or Van Gogh enthusiasts, I would highly recommend this book! I give it a 5 star rating. BOOK 8: The Killer You Know by S.R. Masters (ARC)
I won this signed ARC copy of The Killer You Know in a giveaway, hosted by the author on twitter. So thank you for my copy! This debut thriller follows the story of a small friendship group living in Blythe. When Will jokes about becoming a serial killer when he’s older, the group just laughs it off. But, 15 years later, at their reunion which Will doesn’t show up to, the joke becomes a lot more serious. I loved this book! It is a brilliant debut, and I’m looking forward to seeing what else S.R. BOOK 9: The Immortal Prudence Blackwood by Stephanie Grey
The Immortal Prudence Blackwood was a NetGalley request, which obviously I was approved for. Everything about this book appealed to me, and I couldn’t miss the opportunity! Prudence Blackwood is an immortal. She has lived for centuries, and witnessed some pretty horrific things. Including a few brutal serial killers, who were never caught. Or were they? It’s now 1947, and Detective Clive O’Reilly is on the hunt for a serial killer. With no leads in his investigation, desperate times call for desperate measures. O’Reilly is disbelieving of Prudence’s existence, which is soon proven to him when she joins the investigation team. He must find a way to work with her, and her unorthodox methods, if he wants to catch this killer. This book was everything I could have asked for it to be. I’m giving this a 5 star rating. There was only 1 book on my May TBR that I didn’t get around to, which is Frozen: The Author’s Cut by Jay Bonansinga. However, I did make a start on it, and will be adding it to my June TBR (There will be a June TBR post coming soon).

Sounds like it was a great reading month for you! You’ve got me interested in Twisted and The Killer You Know. The Immortal Prudence Blackwood sounds intriguing too.

This is a great list!!
I have read The Green Mile about a zillion times and I love it more every time I read it. Stephen King is a master writer and I love his writing even though it usually gives me nightmares.
I am one of those that love Alice, but I can understand that she is not easy to love by everyone. As they say, no one ever reads the same book.
Your recommendation of Twisted is now the third book blog to mention this book, all to raving reviews. I am going to have to give this one a read! I’m glad you didn’t tell us anything about it. I want to go in blind, as you recommend.
Living With Van Gogh is on my shortlist of reads for this year, but it will likely be in the fall as this is the kind of book that I like to curl up on the couch with a big cup of tea and fully immerse myself in. So, I will be reading this one at some point. Great selection!
The Killer You Know is a book that I just chose from Kindle Unlimited and I will be reading it and soon! It is on my TBR list for June. I think it will be fantastic!
This last one, The Immortal Prudence Blackwood is not one I’ve heard of before and after reading your description here I know that this is one of those books that I have to read, so, on the Goodreads list, it goes.

I’m so glad I finally read The Green Mile, I would say it’s some of King’s best work!
I totally understand why some people love Alice, it just wasn’t to my taste at all, but I love the movies!
Twisted is a definitely must read. I went in blind, and it was the best decision I made. It made it even better!
I did exactly that when reading Living With Vincent Van Gogh! He has such an incredible life story.
I hope you enjoy The Killer You Know as much as I did 🙂
The Immortal Prudence Blackwood was so much better than I expected, I would definitely recommend it.
