Hey everyone!
It’s Friday 13th, which despite superstition, has never been unlucky for me.
Anyway, it’s time for this week’s First Lines Fridays post!

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
The first lines of today’s chosen book are:
Ayoola summons me with these words – Korede, I killed him.
I had hoped I would never hear those words again.
And the book is…

My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite

GoodReads Synopsis:
My Sister, the Serial Killer is a blackly comic novel about how blood is thicker – and more difficult to get out of the carpet – than water…
When Korede’s dinner is interrupted one night by a distress call from her sister, Ayoola, she knows what’s expected of her: bleach, rubber gloves, nerves of steel and a strong stomach. This’ll be the third boyfriend Ayoola’s dispatched in, quote, self-defence and the third mess that her lethal little sibling has left Korede to clear away. She should probably go to the police for the good of the menfolk of Nigeria, but she loves her sister and, as they say, family always comes first. Until, that is, Ayoola starts dating the doctor where Korede works as a nurse. Korede’s long been in love with him, and isn’t prepared to see him wind up with a knife in his back: but to save one would mean sacrificing the other…
My Sister, The Serial Killer has been on my to buy list for quite a while, and I finally bought myself a copy last week. I have heard so many good things about this book, and if the first lines are anything to go by, I am not going to be disappointed!
Have you read this book?
