My Review:
Killer Domes and the Chosen One isn’t my usual type of book, but I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised, and I actually thoroughly enjoyed this book.
To begin with, it took a little while to understand what was happening, because you were thrown in to a new, unknown world. However, things are soon explained, and the story becomes a lot easier to understand. I really liked the idea of dome worlds, and found the plot extremely interesting. It gave me definite black mirror vibes. There wasn’t a single character in the story that I didn’t like (including the villains), and I particularly liked the strong female characters.
The way the author described the downfall of humanity with the line “Human greed destroyed the old world.” is actually quite a realistic possibility for how humanity will destroy themselves. Human greed knows no boundaries, and the current crisis we are living in has definitely highlighted that. The crazy panic buying/stock piling, constant complaints about having to stay in, and people breaking lockdown, shows just how greedy and selfish humanity can really be.
Despite it being a short read, it is action packed from beginning to end, and there were quite a few twists that I really didn’t see coming. It is a thoroughly enjoyable book, that I could easily have devoured in one sitting. Even if like me, this isn’t your preferred genre, I will still highly recommend reading this book.
Thank you to the author, Gibbo Gibbs, for my copy, in exchange for an honest review.
I give Killer Domes and the Chosen One a 4 star rating.
