Today I will be doing the Bookshelf Tag! I saw this over on bec&books, and thought it looked like fun.
How many bookshelves do you have?
I have a big bookcase in my dining room, and Alex and my Dad put up 6 shelves in our living room. I still don’t have enough space though…
How many books are on your bookshelves?
I needed to re-count this anyway, for one of my challenges this year…
dining room bookcase: 239
living room shelves: 188
I’m also going to include my kindle, because I have quite a few books on there, and it has all of my arcs on too.
kindle shelves: 85
How do you organise your books?
I have such a mixture of ways that I organise them…
The dining room bookcase is a mess if I’m honest, they’re all just kind of thrown on, but on of the shelves on it is an art and science shelf, and another is a kind of TBR for the year shelf that has all of the books on for my yearly challenges.
The living room shelves has a Harry Potter shelf, a James Herbert/Stephen King shelf. It also has a clothbound/classics shelf, a general hardback shelf, an art and hardback, and Folio Society shelf, and a special edition shelf, all of which are organised by colour.
What is the oldest book on your shelf?
I’m not sure if this means the book that was written first, the book that I’ve had the longest, or the oldest edition I own… So, I’m going with the oldest edition I own, which is an 1879 copy of Jane Eyre, which belonged to Alex’s Granny. It’s very fragile, so I rarely take it off the shelf.
What is the newest book on your shelf?
Again, I’m not sure if this means the newest addition to my shelves, or the most recently released… So, I’m going with When I Come Home Again by Caroline Scott, which will be released in October.
What is the longest book on your bookshelf?
There was a few contenders for this one, but the longest book on my shelves is Stephen King’s IT, with 1166 pages.
What is the shortest book on your shelf?
I’m pretty sure it is the Vampirates: Dead Deep novella, which was released for World Book Day in 2007, and is intended to be read in between books 1 and 2 of the Vampirates series. It only has 69 pages.
What is the most predominant genre on your bookshelves?
Definitely Thriller, which won’t come as a shock to any of you.
Have you done a bookshelf tour?
I haven’t. I don’t think people would be very interested in my shelves.
Use a random number generator and talk about the book that corresponds with that number.
I got number 237, which is The Twins: Men of Violence by Kate Kray.
A true crime book, about the criminal empire built by the Kray twins, Ronnie and Reggie. Most people who are really in to true crime have a favourite criminal to read about, and for me, that is the Kray’s. I haven’t read this one yet, but it is on my TBR for the year, and I’m hoping to read it soon.
Do you have fan merch or decorations on your bookshelves?
I do indeed! Lots of Funko Pops, and candles, and stuff.
Show us your bookshelves!
