I have decided that I will be making Guest Posts a permanent Sunday feature, and they will also still be filling in on Thursdays that I have no review to share.
So, for today’s post, here is another blogger guest post.
This week, we have Jessica, from Stuck In The Book!
Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Jessica and I am 24 years old. I am from Manchester where I currently (still) live at home with my parents and our three dogs, Martha, Mabel and Henry. I work as a Bid Writer, a job that I do enjoy and kind of miss in some strange way but it is very male orientated. Luckily I like my football and sport so I can keep up with the banter and the weekly football chat.
Why did you decide to start a blog?
I started a book blog when I was a University, but like with everything, life got in the way and the motivation to blog dwindled like the number of books I read. Since then my passion for reading and all things books has been re-ignited, so I recently started my blog back up and it is safe to say, I am loving every second of it.
What is your favourite thing about being a blogger?
My favourite thing about being a blogger is the fantastic sense of community that it creates. Everyone is reading each other’s posts and commenting with their opinion. There are some fantastic blogs out there and I bet I’m only scraping the surface. I think I also enjoy reading more, looking out for specific themes and events, knowing I will be writing a review on it.
Who are some of your favourite authors?
I always struggle when it comes to these types of questions because I get blogger’s block and can’t think of any authors!! I tend to read stand-alones more than series but my favourite authors would have to be Khaled Hosseini and Sue Monk Kidd because their writing is magical and so descriptive. Bram Stoker and Virginia Woolf have to be on that list too as I just love Dracula and Mrs Dalloway.
Name one book that you think everyone should read in their lifetime, and explain why.
One book I think that everyone has to read is The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. The story, as well as the descriptive writing, is unbelievable and such an interesting spin on the traditional slave narrative.
Suggest 3 blogs that you enjoy reading.
As I’m still new to the blogging world, I’m reading all sorts of blogs at the minute. My favourite three right now have to be:
