The Sunshine Blogger Award – Part 5

Hey everyone!

For today’s post, I am doing the Sunshine Blogger Award. I was nominated by both Livy @ Shelves of Starlight, and Dean @ Book Vagabond to do this, so I will be combining both in to one post. Thank you so much for nominating me, I truly appreciate it!

If you don’t already, go give their blogs a follow!

How does it work?

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Questions set by Livy:

1 – What is the most recent book that you added to your TBR?

The Castle in the Wars of the Roses by Dan Spencer. I actually saw this when a review for it was review of the day on @The_WriteReads, and it sounded so good, I had to add it to my TBR straight away!

2 – How do you add books to your TBR?

If I don’t already own them, I add them to my Amazon wishlist, and if I do own them, I add them to my spreadsheet.

3 – What was your most recent 5 star read? And why was it 5 stars?

The Berlin Girl by Mandy Robotham. I felt that it really captured the lead up to WWII in a way I had never read. It was emotional, exciting, and everything I wanted it to be and more. (review to come)

4 – Favourite TV series to binge and where can I find it?

Oh I have a few! Sons of Anarchy, Grace and Frankie, Money Heist, and Gilmore Girls, all of which are on Netflix.

5 – What book/series would you love to get an adaptation?

An adaptation of James Herbert’s Rats series would really fulfil all of my horror movie needs!

6 – Which adaptation do you hate the most?

In all honestly, I can’t think of an adaptation that I’ve watched and hated…

7 – What is your most anticipated release of 2021?

I’m not sure yet, but I am extremely excited for They Don’t Need To Understand by Andy Biersack, which is being released on 8th December 2020. Andy is one of my favourite musicians, an incredible role model, and one of my favourite people I’ve ever met, so I can not wait to read his memoir!

8 – Favourite thing to snack on whilst reading?

I don’t snack much while I read, but you can’t beat a bar of Wholenut Dairy Milk.

9 – Who’s an author you haven’t read but would love to?

Oh, good question! There are quite a few, but I’m going to say Christopher Berry-Dee. He has written a collection of books where he has interviewed serial killers, psychopaths, savages, etc. I own a couple of them, and am fascinated by true crime, so I can’t wait to read them!

10 – What is your favourite thing about reading?

Being able to immerse myself in to something so completely, and just forgetting everything that is going on around me.

11 – Why did you start your blog?

Initially, it was because I wanted somewhere to share my reviews and thoughts with people, but the other main reason was because of the wonderful book community.

Questions set by Dean:

1 – Lets start off with an easy one. What are you currently reading and what are your thoughts on it so far?

Carrie by Stephen King. I’m not very far in to it yet, but I’m unsure so far. Hopefully I’ll enjoy it.

2 – Paperback, Hardback or E-Book?

Hardback! I just love them so much!
But, I own more paperbacks, purely because they’re cheaper.
I much prefer to hold a physical copy than to read ebooks, and the only times I really read ebooks are ARCs…

3 – If you could visit any world from a book you have read where would you go?

Middle-Earth, specifically Rivendell.

4 – Choose a weapon. Sword, axe or bow and why?

Sword, always a sword!
A bow is great long distance, but if you’re having to deal with close contact combat, you won’t have a leg to stand on.
An axe would work in close range, but a sword definitely puts you at more of an advantage, because the blade is much longer, and is usually a cleaner cut.
Can I choose a specific sword? because I’m choosing a Katana!

5 – What book are you looking forward to reading the most?

This is such a hard question, there are so many! I already used They Don’t Need To Understand by Andy Biersack for one of my answers to Livy’s questions, so I’m going to go with my Folio Society edition of Letters of Vincent Van Gogh.

6 – Name your favourite book blog?

Do I have to choose? I can’t choose! I love all of the book blogs I follow!

7 – Are you a cat or dog person?

My most dreaded question… haha! I have a cat and a dog, who I love equally, they’re the best! But, overall, I would probably say I’m more of a cat person.

8 – Which book cover would you re-design if you were given the chance, and what would it look like?

This is such a hard one. I can’t think of a particular book cover I would re-design, but I love simplistic covers, so if I did design one, it would probably be mainly typography.

9 – What book do you recommend the most and why?

The Vampirates series by Justin Somper. I always recommend it, because it was a huge part of my childhood, and it is still just as good when I re-read it now. It is also extremely underrated.
The other series that was a huge part of me when I was growing up, we no longer speak about, so I always recommend the Vampirates series to people who are looking for alternatives. But I also recommend it to anyone and everyone.

10 – You can only choose one for the rest of your reading life. Sci-Fi or Fantasy?

I don’t really read much of either if I’m honest (sorry Dean), but I would probably go with fantasy.

11 – If you were a character from The Lord of The Rings who would you be?

Éowyn! She’s strong, not afraid of a good fight, and she’s not exactly a girly girl.

  1. I love the answers you gave! I’m definitely going to be checking out some of the books you mentioned.

Also I’m slightly worried how much though you put into the ‘choose a weapon’ answer. Should I be worried 😅
