Wrap Up: October 2020

Hey everyone!

Today I will be sharing my October Wrap Up!
October has been the best month of reading I have had in a long time, and I’m actually really impressed with how many books I managed to read! I finished 8 books, DNF’ed 1, and started another. Of the 8 I finished, 6 of them were for the Spooktober Readathon.

BOOKS READ:

BOOK 1 – The Wolf and the Water by Josie Jaffrey

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate link): Amazon UK

I read The Wolf and the Water, for a blog tour, hosted by @The_WriteReads. This book is brilliant, and you can find my full review HERE!

BOOK 2 – The Christmas Killer by Alex Pine

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

This book has so much potential, and it’s good, but it was a little predictable at times, and wasn’t as exciting as I had hoped. You can read my full review HERE!

BOOK 3 – The Chalet by Catherine Cooper

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

Again, I did enjoy this, but it didn’t have as much action as I would have liked. Full review to come.

BOOK 4 – My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

Although I can see why there is so much hype for this book, I have to say that personally, I felt like there was something missing from the story. I did enjoy it though, and it’s one of those books that you won’t put down. Full review to come.

BOOK 5 – The Berlin Girl by Mandy Robotham

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

I received an ARC of The Berlin Girl through NetGalley, and was so excited to read it. It certainly didn’t disappoint, and was definitely my favourite book of the month! You can read my full review HERE!

BOOK 6 – Carrie by Stephen King

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

I have very mixed opinions on this one. The actually story was really enjoyable, but King’s obsession with the female body was extremely off putting. Full review to come.

BOOK 7 – She Died Famous by Kyle Rutkin

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UK

I was a little disappointed by this one. I found that the layout (interviews, articles, and blog posts) was an interesting idea, but it made it a little confusing at times. I didn’t connect with the characters, and the whole book seemed to be one big drug fuelled party. I won’t be writing a full review for this one.

BOOK 8 – Rewind by Catherine Ryan Howard

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

After having this on my TBR for a long time, I was excited to finally read it. I did really enjoy it, but the constant switches in time got a little confusing at times. The story was great though. Full review to come

BOOKS DNF’ED:

BOOK 1 – Tested By Fire by David Costa

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKBook Depository

This book is actually quite interesting, but I just wasn’t getting on with it, and I can’t pinpoint why, so maybe it was just bad timing? I don’t know. I’ll probably come back to it at some point and give it another go.

  1. Great post! I totally understand what you’re saying about Stephen King’s weird obsession with the female body – it’s so off-putting when reading his work. And I remember reading My Sister, the Serial Killer and feeling exactly the same way.
