Hey everyone!
Today, I will be doing the Naughty or Nice book tag, which I saw Fiona do over at Fi’s Bibliofiles. I am loving the festive tags at the moment! I think this one was originally created by Jen of Jenniely.
So, by answering the questions below, I am going to find out at the end if I’m on Santa’s bookish Nice list or Naughty List!
Received an ARC and not reviewed it
YES.
I have DNF’ed ARCs in the past, and not reviewed them. I also have loads of ARCs that I still need to read and review too!
Have less than 60% feedback rating on Netgalley
NO.
I am very happy with the progress I have made with my feedback ratio, and it is currently at 77%.
Rated a book on goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog (and never did)
NO.
I never actually promise a review on GoodReads before posting one. I usually give a star rating as soon as I finish the book, but don’t actually write anything until posting my review.
Folded down the page of a book
NO.
Dog-eared pages a big pet peeve of mine, so definitely not! I fold down the pages of products I want in shop magazines, but I really don’t think that counts… haha!
Accidentally spilled on a book
YES.
I’m not actually sure if this counts, because I didn’t technically knock anything on to it, but when I was at school, I had my book in my bag (I was reading The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank), and my drink leaked all over it, along with everything else in my bag…
DNF a book this year
YES.
Oh I’ve DNF’ed a few this year, which is funny because until this year I didn’t DNF at all, but I decided that this year I wasn’t going to make myself read books that I wasn’t enjoying. If I’m honest, I’m so glad that I’ve started DNF’ing!
Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it
NO.
I’ve often bought books because they were pretty, but always with the intention of reading them. I would never buy a book that I didn’t intend to read, no matter how pretty it is, that just seems like a massive waste of money.
Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)
YES.
I often avoid things that I am supposed to be doing by reading…
Skim read a book
NO.
This just isn’t something I do. I’d much rather sit down and read a book properly.
Completely missed your Goodreads goal
NO.
This is actually only the 3rd year that I have set a GoodReads goal, but I met my 2018 and 2019 targets, and I’m on book 49 of my 50 book goal for this year, so I’m 100% certain that I will reach it.
Borrowed a book and not returned it
YES.
I feel so guilty about this one. I once borrowed a book off someone at school in our last year there, and then I hadn’t finished it by the time we left school, and we lost touch… I never meant to not return it, and I’ve felt bad about it ever since.
Broke a book buying ban
YES.
I could never stick to a book buying ban, and always used to break them, so I no longer put myself on them. Instead, I try to cut down my book buying, which definitely seems to work better for me because I haven’t bought many new books in the past few months at all, but if there is one that I desperately want, I don’t feel like I’m cheating if I buy it.
Started a review, left it for ages then forgot what the book was about
NO.
I never start a review unless I’m going to sit down and write the whole thing in one sitting, so this never happens for me. I do sometimes leave it so long before starting a review that I forget though.
Wrote in a book you were reading
NO.
This is another big pet peeve for me. I hate writing in books, because there is always somewhere more appropriate to write notes. Use a notebook, a notes app on your phone or laptop, or use post-it notes!
Nothing used to bother me more at school than when the teachers made us write notes in the book.
Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads
NO.
Since starting my GoodReads account, I have added every book I’ve read (not including BBNYA books, because we’re not allowed to add them until the competition is over).
Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book
YES.
Guilty, haha! I just don’t like people borrowing my books…
Broke the spine of someone else’s book
NO.
I don’t even break the spines of my own books, why would I break someone else’s?
Took the jacket off a book to protect it and ended up making it more damaged
NO.
I like my books to look brand new, even after reading, so I’m always extremely careful with my dust jackets.
Sat on a book accidentally
YES.
Definitely! I often put my book on the sofa, go off to do something, and then sit on it by accident when I come back, especially if it gets wrapped up in a blanket or something.
My Results:
Number of YES answers: 8
Number of NO answers: 11
