The Fantasy Tropes Book Tag

Hey everyone!
Today, I will be doing The Fantasy Tropes book tag, which I saw over on The Return Cart!

Rules:

  • Mention the creator ( one’s peculiar )
  • Answer the questions
  • Tag as many people as you like
  • HAVE FUN!

1 – The Lost Princess – A book/series you lost interest in halfway through.

The Woman in the Water by Katerina Diamond. I didn’t exactly lose interest, I was actually really enjoying it, but then there was an extremely graphic and unexpected scene that I just couldn’t continue after. It has been over a year, and I still think about how horrific that scene was.

2 – The Knight in Shining Armour – A hyped book/series you were swept up by.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. I am so glad I bought in to the hype with this one, because this book is incredible! I’ve not read Children of Virtue and Vengeance yet, and I’m a little scared to incase it doesn’t live up to Children of Blood and Bone, but I will definitely read it at some point soon.

3 – The Wise Old Wizard – An author who amazes you with his/her writing.

Steve Cavanagh. Every time I read one of his books, I think to myself “there is no way he can top this”, and somehow every time he releases a new book, he manages to! I love his writing style, and he is an absolute master at plot twists.

4 – The Maiden in Distress – An undervalued character you wished had a bigger storyline.

That’s a tough one… I’m going to say the whole of Kate’s team in Carol Wyer’s Detective Kate Young series. Each of them has such an individual personality from the rest, and I’d love to learn more about each of their stories. Carol has said that we will be getting more of one of their stories in the next book though, and I CAN NOT WAIT!

5 – The Magical Sword –  A magical item/ability you wish authors used less.

I honestly have no idea…

6 – The Mindless Villain – A phrase you cannot help but roll your eyes at.

I think most of us can agree on this one… “They released the breath they didn’t realise they were holding”

7 – The Untamed Dragon –  A magical creature you wish you had as a pet.

Ohhhh good question! There are actually quite a few, but I really can’t choose between these as my top 2: A griffin, or a dragon!

8 – The Chosen One – A book/series you will always root for.

The Vampirates series by Justin Somper. It doesn’t get even nearly as much hype as it deserves, and this series will always hold a very special place in my heart.

  1. Thank you for the tag!

I am actually intrigued by Woman in the Water just because I can’t image a scene so gruesome it would put me off a book, that has never happened to me before and now I am curious! I have The Children of Blood and Bone on my shelf and I am really looking forward to reading it, its one I was a bit worried about because of all the hype!
