Meet The Book Blogger Book Tag

Hey everyone!
Today, I will be doing the Meet The Book Blogger book tag. It has been a while since I have done this, so I decided that it was time to do it again.

Rules:

  • Thank the blogger who tagged you
  • Mention the creator Lauren @ Lala’s Book Reviews
  • Tag as many (or as few) people as you’d like
  • Have fun and get to know one another!

Introduction:

Introduce yourself!

Hi, I’m Danni! I’m 25, from Ipswich, England. I have a wonderful fiancé, and we have a beautiful 4 year old daughter.

Something most everyone wants to know…do you have any pets?

I do! I have a Chihuahua called Eddy, and a ginger cat called Crash.

What is your favourite thing to drink?

Depends on the time of day and the weather really… I love an ice cold beer in the evening, and I’m a sucker for a hazelnut hot chocolate on a cold day.

What is your favourite season?

Autumn (Fall), because the colours are so beautiful, it’s the perfect temperature (sweater weather), HALLOWEEN (the best time of the year), do I need to go on?

Do you have any special talents?

I don’t think they would be considered SPECIAL talents, but I’m a blackbelt in karate (have been since I was 9 years old), and I guess my art skills would be considered a talent? I mainly draw portraits.

Blogging:

When and why did you start your blog?

I started blogging in April 2019. The main reason I started my blog was because I had already started my bookstagram, and I wanted to be more involved in the book community. I was already writing reviews anyway, so starting a blog seemed like the natural progression from there.

What is something that you wish you knew about blogging when you first started?

You don’t have to follow what other people are doing!!! To begin with, I thought I had to write posts like everyone else, like the ‘popular’ posts, but then I realised that I didn’t have to do that. My blog is for the content that I want to post, not what I think I have to post. Let your blog be whatever you want it to be!

What has been the hardest part about blogging?

Remembering that it doesn’t matter whether other people’s blogs are getting more attention than mine. It can sometimes be disheartening when you know how much effort you’ve put in to your blog, and then it doesn’t get as many views as you had hoped for, or you see others getting a lot more attention than yours. I try to remind myself regularly that it’s okay, and that I’m blogging to make me happy, and that’s all that matters. Views really aren’t overly important, so try not to let it get you down.

What has been the most rewarding part of blogging?

Easily the friends I have made! They are the best part of this experience, and the greatest thing to come out of it.
Another really rewarding part of blogging is when people tell you that they have bought a book because of your review or recommendation. That is a really special feeling.

Do you write your posts ahead of time or write them the day of posting?

ALWAYS ahead of time! If I haven’t scheduled posts in advance, I would probably struggle with posting as regularly as I do.

Reading:

Who are your top 5 favourite authors?

It’s hard to pick just 5, but I’ll go with:

  • Steve Cavanagh
  • Justin Somper
  • Caroline Scott
  • Josie Jaffrey
  • Kia Abdullah

What genre do you read the most?

Definitely thriller!

What genre surprised you by how much you love it?

YA! I’ve really started to enjoy YA, especially YA thrillers!

Which popular book didn’t live up to the hype for you?

I will always have the same answer for this question, because I can’t get over how much I hated it… Alice In Wonderland.

Who are some popular authors you haven’t read?

Quite a lot actually! Leigh Bardugo, SJM, Cassandra Clare, most of the popular fantasy authors if I’m honest.

What upcoming release are you excited to read?

I can not wait for Amari and the Great Game by B.B. Alston! I pre-ordered it as soon as it was available to.

Do you listen to music while reading?

I don’t. I find it too distracting, and find that I can’t take the story in properly if I’m listening to music at the same time.

Where else can we find you online?

I have quite a few social media accounts…
