Hey everyone!
I did the 12 Days of Christmas tag a couple of years ago, and thought I’d give it another go this year!
This tag was originally created by Lizzie Loves Books.
ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE.
The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?
A high percentage of the books I read are stand alones, so this is a hard one to answer. Although I mainly read thrillers and it is my go to genre, I’m actually going to choose a historical fiction book for this one, and I’m going to say The Photographer of the Lost (REVIEW HERE) by Caroline Scott. This is one of my favourite books I’ve ever read.

ON THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TWO TURTLE DOVES.
Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?
I’m not really a huge fan of romance, but it has to be Grace Tempest and Lorcan Furey from the Vampirates series! I was routing for them from the very beginning, and the connection between them is like no other.

ON THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: THREE FRENCH HENS.
In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?
I have read quite a few fantastic trilogies, so it’s pretty hard to pick a favourite, but I would probably say either James Herbert’s Rats series, or Jennifer Lynn Barnes’ The Inheritance Games series.

ON THE FOURTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FOUR CALLING BIRDS.
Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?
My favourite series will always be the Vampirates series by Justin Somper. This series has brought me so much happiness for so many years, it’s my happy place.

ON THE FIFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: FIVE GOLDEN RINGS.
One ring to rule them all! Who is your favourite Villain/Antagonist?
I always love a good villain/antagonist, but a favourite of mine is Seraphine Walker from Leona Deakin’s Detective Bloom series. You always know that chaos is coming when Seraphine is involved.

ON THE SIXTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SIX GEESE A LAYING.
Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?
I’m not choosing a specific book for this one, but an author. D.N. Bryn is absolutely incredible at world-building and it’s always the aspect I love most about their books.
ON THE SEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: SEVEN SWANS A SWIMMING.
Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?
I don’t read many books with animal sidekicks, but I’ll go with Nailah, Zélie’s lion, in Children of Blood and Bone (REVIEW HERE) by Tomi Adeyemi.

ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS, MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: EIGHT MAIDS A MILKING.
Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?
I don’t read many books that include food/beverages either, so I always say the same for this type of question. The Ship of Shadows (REVIEW HERE) by Maria Kuzniar because THERE’S SO MUCH CAKE IN THIS BOOK!

ON THE NINTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: NINE LADIES DANCING.
Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?
Jack Valentine from the Seekers series by Josie Jaffrey. She is fiery, argumentative, strong, sarcastic, and I just love everything about her.

ON THE TENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: TEN LORDS A LEAPING.
How about your favourite leading lad?
The one and only Eddie Flynn from Steve Cavanagh’s Eddie Flynn series. There’s not a dull moment when Eddie is involved!

ON THE ELEVENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: ELEVEN PIPES PIPING.
What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)
It goes without saying that my answer for this is They Don’t Need To Understand (REVIEW HERE) by Andy Biersack (lead singer of Black Veil Brides). This man has been one of my absolute favourite musicians for well over 10 years, and he’s one of the nicest people that I’ve met in the industry, so of course his book is also one of my favourites.
ON THE TWELFTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS MY TRUE LOVE SENT TO ME: 12 DRUMMERS DRUMMING.
Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?
Such a tough question, because I’ve read so many fantastic books this year, and there is also still time for another book to take the top spot, but I think I would have to say that my favourite has been by With Fire In Their Blood (REVIEW HERE) Kat Delacorte.
