Monthly TBR: March 2023/Trope-ical Readathon

Hey everyone!
Today, I am sharing my March TBR, but this month is a little different, because I am taking part in the Trope-ical Readathon! I am part or team Mystery/Horror/Thriller. I have chosen books for every prompt, but I know I won’t manage to read even half of them… No harm in trying, right? So wish me luck!

Common Challenges:

Prompt 1: Absent/Dead Parent(s) OR More Than One Author

When She Disappeared has been on my NetGalley shelf for a while, and the ‘More Than One Author’ prompt is the perfect opportunity to final read it.

Prompt 2: Love Triangle OR Followers/Friends Choose Between 2 Books

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

According to the internet, Dark And Shallow Lies has a love triangle, and it has been staring at me from my bookshelf. I’m really looking forward to this one!

Prompt 3: Boarding School OR A Group/Buddy Read

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate link): Amazon UK

Princess In Practice is the second book in The Rosewood Chronicles, and the main setting for the book is Rosewood Hall, which is a boarding school.

Prompt 4: Dark Academia OR A Borrowed Book

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

I’ve never really known what qualifies as dark academia, but according to GoodReads, Wilder Girls falls in to that category. I’ve had a copy of this since it was released and just never gotten around to reading it.

Prompt 5: Holiday OR Takes Place In Another Country

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

I think it’s fairly self explanatory that I’ve chosen Her Last Holiday for the ‘Holiday’ prompt… I’ve heard great things about this book!

Prompt 6: Blast From The Past OR Published Before 2000

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

The Picture of Dorian Gray is the classic I’ve most wanted to read, so I’ve chosen it for the ‘Published Before 2000’ prompt.

Prompt 7: Mixed Media OR An Audiobook or Ebook

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate link): Amazon UK

I have an ebook of Dark Eyes: White Lies from the author, ready to review, so it made sense to use it for this one.

Prompt 8: Apocalyptic/Dystopia OR Book With Over 500 Pages

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

I’m not usually a fan of apocalyptic/dystopia, but I’ve wanted to read 1984 for so long, and it fits in to the category!

Prompt 9: Found Family OR A Book In A Series

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

The Eddie Flynn series is one of my favourites, but I’m a little behind on the books, so I’m going to read The Devil’s Advocate in an attempt to catch up a bit!

Prompt 10: Coming-Of-Age OR An Indie/Self-Published Book

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate link): Amazon UK

Chasing The Reaper is the second book in the indie published book series, The Reaper Chronicles. I loved book one, and can’t wait for this one!

Prompt 11: Multiple POV OR Multiple POC Characters

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

For the ‘Multiple POC Characters’ prompt, I’ve chosen Amari and the Great Game! I’ve been wanting to read this since before it was published, so I can’t wait!

Prompt 12: Bookish Themes OR A Book With A Pun In The Title

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate link): Amazon UK

I really struggled to find a book for either of these prompts, but I’ve gone with a loose ‘Bookish Theme’, and chosen The Librarian of Auschwitz.

Prompt 13: Retelling OR A Book With A TV/Movie Adaptation

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

I haven’t watched the One Of Us Is Lying series yet, and I’ve only read book one (which is why I haven’t watched the adaptation), so I will be reading One Of Us Is Next, and then diving straight in to the TV series!

Team Books:

Team Book 1: She Is A Haunting by Trang Thanh Tran

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate link): Amazon UK

Team Book 2: Blacktop Wasteland by S.A. Cosby

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate link): Amazon UK

Team Challenges:

A Book With The Cosmic Horror Trope

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate link): Amazon UK

I had absolutely no idea what cosmic horror even was, but after a little google search, I’ve chosen a book called Dirty Heads!

A Book With The Cold Case Trope

PURCHASE HERE (affiliate links): Amazon UKWaterstonesBook Depository

The Six Stories series is one of my favourites, and every book is about a different cold case. Demon is the most recent book in the series, and the only one I haven’t read yet.
