Wrap Up: August 2024

Hey everyone!
Today, I will be sharing my August wrap up with you all! I had a good reading month, with a real mix of books. In total, I read 5 books in August.

Books Read:

1 – Sunderworld Vol1: The Extraordinary Disappointments of Leopold Berry by Ransom Riggs

Sunderworld Vol1: The Extraordinary Disappointments of Leopold Berry by Ransom Riggs was very much out of my comfort zone, but I ended up enjoying it a lot more than I had expected.

2 – Art Heist: 50 Artworks You Will Never See by Susie Hodge

Art is my biggest passion, and it makes me so sad/angry that people attempt to and often successfully steal art, but I guess it’s the true crime junkie in me that still wants to learn about these crimes… I found Art Heist: 50 Artworks You Will Never See by Susie Hodge absolutely fascinating.

3 – Great Artists of the World: Vincent Van Gogh by Alix Wood

My 7yo and I read Great Artists of the World: Vincent Van Gogh by Alix Wood as part of her summer reading challenge. As most of you know by now, Van Gogh is my art hero, so it was amazing to share that love with my daughter, and for her to learn more about him and his work.

4 – Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent

I read Strange Sally Diamond by Liz Nugent for the first book for the local Chapter 25 book club. Our meet up is on the 11th, and I can’t wait to share my thoughts and here everyone else’s. I personally thought it was great! Review to come.

5 – After The Storm by G.D. Wright

I don’t get emotional while reading very often, but After The Storm by G.D. Wright absolutely broke me. This book is fantastic, however, I would strongly recommend checking the trigger warnings before reading!

  1. Oh I’m currently reading The Art Thief by Michael Finkel, and I’m really enjoying the themes so I want to add Art Heist to my tbr now! My favourite book of August was A Dangerous Collaboration, the 4th book in the Veronica Speedwell series.

      1. Nice haha well I hope you enjoy it once you get to it and I find the storytelling is engaging, I don’t usually pick up nonfiction but this one is not dry at all to me so I’m happy 🙂
