A Tune For Tuesday: Disappear by Issues

This week I forgot to schedule my Music Monday post, and was out all day and didn’t get chance to do it, so this week I am doing A Tune For Tuesday to make up for it… haha! This is just for one week only, and Music Monday will be back as normal next week.

For this week’s song, I have chosen Disappear by Issues, which holds a lot of meaning to me.

Music Monday was created by Drew over on The Tattooed Book Geek. I would also like to thank Drew for the name suggestion for this post!

Disappear by Issues

Disappear originally featured on Issues’ 2014 self-titled debut album. But was then released later that same year on their more acoustic album Diamond Dreams. It is the Diamond Dreams version which I want to focus on, and which I love the most, but I will also link the original version at the bottom of the post.

Issues’ lead singer, Tyler Carter, wrote and dedicated Disappear to his best friend, who was hit and killed by a drunk driver. My best friend died 9 years ago now, and although the circumstances weren’t the same, I still share the same pain that he must be feeling, and can really relate to the lyrics of this song, which is why it holds so much meaning to me.

Also, the part at the beginning of the song where he “needs a minute” was unplanned, but during recording, he got too emotional to carry on, and they later decided to include it in the song.

Lyrics

Remember when I didn’t need you
Well I need you now
To hold my head up high say…

Some days I feel like a saint, I’m so alive
Some days I can’t make any moves
It’s like I have no spine
Can’t do anything right
And when midnight comes I’ve run out of time to
Make some kind of difference
I constantly overlook the impact I’ve made
Maybe I’m longing to change my own face
To make you proud, I wanna make you proud
When you’re looking down on me

My mind’s wide open like starry skies
I ask God questions and wonder why
The hell that you’re not here
I wanna disappear with you now

But I’m a selfish broken heart and how I got this far
Coping with the thought of holding you a minute longer in my arms is beyond me
I set you free

A product of a free world
Take wing over the coast of a better day
I’m stuck in my dark days
But I can be stronger than you remember
We’re coming up on December, but I’m not cold

My mind’s wide open like starry skies
I ask God questions and wonder why
The hell that you’re not here
I wanna disappear with you now

Remember when I didn’t need you
Well I need you now
To hold my head up high say it’s all better child
Remember when I was alone and crying out
You will be missed
I’m gonna miss you
But I know you’re all better now
