TWO MYSTERIES. ONE CITY. MANY LIES.

Kat Green has made a career out of tracking down reclusive former celebrities. When she moves to the quaint English city of Waelminster, she’s on the trail of enigmatic pop star Roskoe Darke, of the band Scorpio Hearts. He hasn’t been heard of since 1985, but she’s confident she’ll find him. However, as the clues become more bizarre and sinister, Kat has to confront the darkness of her own past. Who can she trust when everyone is hiding the truth?

My Review:

From the very beginning of the book, this story intrigued me. It raised so many questions from the offset that I wanted answers to, like what really happened to Roskoe? The whole investigating of an unsolved mystery in this style really reminded me of the Six Stories series, which is one of my favourite series ever, so I couldn’t wait to see how the story played out, and it didn’t let me down.

Alongside the Roskoe and Scorpio Hearts story, we also hear the story of Cherry and Blue, a young pop duo who are secretly out to get each other. Both stories were equally as intriguing, and had me completely hooked. There were some very interesting characters in both stories, who I wanted to learn more about. I was fascinated by Roskoe though, and can see why Kat was so invested in her research on him. He was dark, mysterious, and a total enigma, but that’s why he’s so interesting. I really enjoyed following Kat and her research into Roskoe’s disappearance, and the way she handled the hurdles that she faced along the way.

I had so many theories throughout the book, some of which I was right about, but others were way off the mark. I loved how the mystery unfolded, and the way everything was revealed. I also loved the way that the story of Cherry and Blue and the Roskoe story came together in the end, and all the dangers and excitement that came with it. The final chapters had so many twists, and I was in complete shock at most of the revelations. I genuinely couldn’t believe what had happened, and it was a fantastic way to end the story.

Overall, this book was exciting, gripping, and thoroughly enjoyable. I’m looking forward to reading more from the author in the future.

I give They Lie Here a 4 star rating!
