I think I speak for everyone when I say thank god 2020 is finally over! It was an awful year for us all, and I don’t think any of us could have ever imagined what was in store for us. BUT, we’ve got through it, and hopefully 2021 will be so much better.
In regards to books, and my blog, I had a very successful year, and I couldn’t be happier with everything I have achieved. At the beginning of 2020, I never expected my blog to become what it is now, and I am extremely proud of it.
I thought I would share a general wrap up of the year with you all, so here it is!
At the beginning of the year, I set myself a target of 50 books, and I am very happy to say that I have reached my target! In 2020, I read a total of 51 books!
Favourite and Least Favourite Books of the Year:
Favourite: Keep Her Quiet by Emma Curtis
Least Favourite: Cupidity by Lucinda Lamont
Authors I Have Discovered This Year, and Loved.
I have discovered so many new authors in 2020, thanks to blog tours, and ARCs I’ve received! Here are a few of my favourites:
- Josie Jaffrey
- Jennifer Lynn Barnes
- B.B. Alston
- Karen M. McManus
I discovered all 4 of these authors thanks to The Write Reads!
I set myself a few goals and challenges for 2020, you can read the original post for them all here.
- Clearing The Hoard – Bookwyrm Challenge
The idea of this challenge is to cut down your unread books on your shelves, and it is safe to say that I did an AWFUL job of this challenge! Although I didn’t buy a huge amount of books in 2020, I did acquire so many new ones from blog tours, publishers, authors, etc. These of course took priority, and I ended up not reading many that I already had on my shelves…
When I started the year, I owned 453 books, with a total of 336 unread books. I now own 522, with a total of 355 unread books.
Of course, there will be a proper update post with all the final figures coming soon.
- NetGalley and Review Requests
I started the year with a pretty big backlog of review requests and NetGalley arcs. The aim was to get through the backlog, and then maintain an 80% feedback ratio on NetGalley. I’ve actually done really well with this one!
I have got through all of my review requests, and have none pending. I still have a few NetGalley ARCs to read, but quite a lot of those aren’t released until February-March time, so I am saving them until closer to the time of release. My current feedback ratio is 78%
- 2020 TBR Reading Challenge
Okay, so for this challenge, there was a list of 22 prompts, which came to a total of 25 books from my picks. I didn’t do terribly, but also didn’t do well with this one… I DNF’ed one of the books I had picked, and I read 10. There is a proper update post coming for this too.
BBNYA (Book Bloggers Novel of the Year Award)
I was lucky enough to be selected as a panelist for the first ever Book Bloggers Novel of the Year Award! This was an incredible experience, and I am extremely grateful to have had this opportunity. I read some fantastic books because of this, the award was such a success, and I can’t explain how happy I am to have been a part of it. Hopefully I’ll get the chance again in 2021!
In 2019, I had a total of 8,008 views on my blog, but in 2020, I have had a total of 23,126 views! I genuinely can not believe it, so thank you to every single one of you!
I have made so many new friends, and have had so much fun! I could never have imagined that 2020 would go quite so well for my little blog (that isn’t quite so little anymore). This has been such a great experience, and I can not wait to see what 2021 has in store for me and my blog.
A huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of my blogging journey in 2020, to all of my followers and readers, and everyone who has been supportive along the way!
